Visual Field

This is an eye exam method to explore in details a central visual field. It is particular important and is indicated when an optic nerve pathology is suspected. It is also used in the follow up in patients diagnosed with chronic glaucoma.

During this supervised exam, many light stimulus of different intensities are projected inside a sphere. The patient must indicate with a remote control once he or she has seen the stimulus. At the end of the exam, the optometrist will obtain a detailed schema of the visual field to be analyzed. With this sophisticated instrument, we can perform visual field asked by the automobile insurance society of Quebec.

At Our Clinic

Eyes are organs of the visual system. They provide organisms with vision, the ability to receive and process visual detail, as well as enabling several photo response functions that are independent of vision.

Near-sightedness, also known as short-sightedness and myopia, is a condition of the eye where light focuses in front of, instead of on, the retina. This causes distant objects to be blurry while close objects appear normal.

Far-sightedness, also known as hyperopia, is a condition of the eye in which light is focused behind, instead of on, the retina. This results in close objects appearing blurry, while far objects may appear normal.

Astigmatism is a type of refractive error in which the eye does not focus light evenly on the retina. This results in distorted or blurred vision at all distances.

Presbyopia is a condition associated with aging of the eye that results in progressively worsening ability to focus clearly on close objects.
